Got a sinking feeling they don’t care?

European governments’ ongoing negligence towards the humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean has contributed to a more than 50-fold increase in migrant and refugee deaths since the beginning of 2015.

The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) today said it was “deeply shocked” that the death of as many as 400 people amid rescue missions off the coast of Libya in recent days could bring the death toll to almost 900 people since 1 January 2015, compared to 17 during the same period in 2014.
