Wire Magazine April – June 2016: Strength and light: Burkina Faso’s heroic women

Inside the latest issue of WIRE you’ll find a feature celebrating the girls of Burkina Faso who have overcome rape, violence, and early or forced marriage alongside the women who have defended and empowered them. There’s also plenty of good news from our last few months of campaigning, such as the release of Mahmoud Hussein in Egypt after over two years in jail, as well as a look at how the My Body My Rights campaign has successfully defended women’s rights worldwide over the last couple of years. Finally, a touching correspondence between Fred Bauma – who’s incarcerated in the Democratic Republic of Congo for peaceful activism – and his close friend, Micheline Mwendike.
