Tunisia: Human Rights Council adopts Universal Periodic Review outcome on Tunisia

This is Amnesty International oral statement on the outcome of the third Universal Period Review of Tunisia (UN Human Rights Council’s 36th session, 21-22 September 2017) in which it raises concerns about impunity for torture and urges Tunisia to ensure accountability for such crimes through independent and effective investigation of allegations of torture and prosecution and sentencing of perpetrators. The organization also expresses its concerns about the government-sponsored bill on the Repression of Attacks on Armed Forces currently being examined by the Tunisian Parliament.
