Algeria: End relentless targeting of government critics

Algerian authorities have ramped up their repression of online and offline peaceful dissent across the country in recent weeks. Courts have handed prison terms to a cartoonist in El M’Ghair in the wilaya (province) of El Oued (southeast of Algeria), and are prosecuting an activist for a Facebook post. Twelve peaceful protesters in El Oued and Tamanrasset were sentenced to imprisonment, and a human rights activist risks the death penalty.
