Human Rights Council: Oral statement on gender discrimination and inequality as barriers to the enjoyment of the right to education by women and girls

Amnesty International made this oral statement during the Panel discussion on realising the equal enjoyment of the right to education by every girl held by the UN Human Rights Council at its 29th session (Geneva, 15 June – 3 July 2015). The statement illustrates the impact of persistent gender discrimination and inequality in society in creating barriers to women’s and girl’s full enjoyment of their right to education as well as other human rights.
