Cambodia: The People of Group 78 [Global letter-writing marathon 2008]

Nearly 150 families living in the centre of Phnom Penh face forced eviction. The Phnom Penh city authorities have been threatening since June 2006 to forcibly evict nearly 150 families living on land known as Group 78. Once evicted, the authorities intend to resettle them in Andong, a site that has no water supply or sewerage, where thousands of people evicted from elsewhere in Phnom Penh are living in squalor.
