Peru: In search of safety: Peru turns its back on people fleeing Venezuela

Years into an unprecedented crisis, Venezuelans are struggling to survive, and millions are unable to meet even their minimum needs for food, water and health care. By December 2019, an estimated 4.8 million people had fled Venezuela. Peru, hosting approximately 800,000 Venezuelans, initially generously welcomed those in search of protection. This report exposes the serious and rapid deterioration in Peru’s treatment of Venezuelan refugees.
