Briefing and Invitation to a Debate on Proposals to Reform the European Court of Human Rights at the Council of Europe, Strasbourg Thursday 29 January 2004

Over the last three years, the Council of Europe has been engaged in a debate about proposals to reform the European Court of Human Rights aimed at guaranteeing its long-term effectiveness. This debate is now drawing to a close. Amnesty International encourages all at the Council of Europe, including members of the Parliamentary Assembly and government representatives, members of the press and delegates of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to attend this meeting. At the meeting you will gain information about these developments, and gain an understanding of the NGOs positions on the proposals for reform of the European Court.
