Liberia: The promises of peace for 21,000 child soldiers

This report looks at the future of child soldiers in Liberia in the light of the peace agreement made in August 2003. The report describes the experiences of the children, including the sexual abuse of girls and talks about the measures required to meet the children’s needs – health, social, psychological, educational and material. The report also highlights the need to end the climate of impunity surrounding the conflict and makes a series of recommendations to ensure that the recruitment of child soldiers finally comes to an end.
