USA: Who are the Guantánamo detainees? Case Sheet 13 – Bahraini national: Abdullah al-Noaimi

Abdullah al-Noaimi was born and brought up in Bahrain, studied in the USA and later in theUnited Arab Emirates. He travelled to Afghanistan in September 2001 in search of a missing cousin but was taken ill. As he tried to return to Bahrain via Pakistan, he was arrested and transferred to US custody in Afghanistan where he was ill-treated. He was then sent to Guantánamo Bay. A Combatant Status Review Tribunal determined that he remain an “enemy combatant”. Action is called for so that allegations of torture can be investigated and for the detainees to be given full and trials or released.
