In this presentation by Klaus Dik Nielsen, Refugee and Migrants’ Rights Campaigner, World Social Forum on Migrations, roundtable discussion on the Migrant Workers Convention Amnesty International considers that all migrants, regardless of their legal status or any other distinction, have human rights. At the heart of Amnesty International’s proposed agenda for advocating and campaigning for migrants’ rights, is a call to treat all migrants with full respect for their human rights and dignity. The paper explains how Amnesty International approaches the issue of human rights of migrants; discusses the benefits of the Migrant Workers Convention and, finally, proposes various ways forward.
