China: Legacy of the Beijing Olympics: Free Chen Guangcheng: China’s choice, your voice

Chen Guangcheng was put under house arrest in September 2005, tried in 2006, found guilty and sentenced to over four years in prison. Amnesty International considers the charges against Chen Guangcheng to be a politically motivated attempt to prevent him from pursuing his peaceful and legitimate activities as a human rights defender, including his legal case against the local authorities. The organization considers him to be a prisoner of conscience and calls for his immediate and unconditional release.
