Human Rights Education and Training: Statement to UN Human Rights Council, Thirteenth Session, 1-26 March 2010

In this letter Amnesty International welcomes the substantive progress made by the Advisory Committee in the drafting process of the Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training and offers key points on the draft for consideration by the Council. The organization believes that human rights education is fundamental for addressing the underlying causes of human rights violations, preventing human rights abuses, combating discrimination, promoting equality, and enhancing people’s participation in democratic decision-making processes.
