Transitional justice: Four central cross-cutting issues: Joint oral intervention by the International Commission of Jurists and Amnesty International at the 21st session of the UN Human Rights Council

In this statement the International Commission of Jurists and Amnesty International reiterate the need to ensure that full account is taken of four cross-cutting issues. These are: independent and effective functioning of judicial mechanisms in times of crisis and transition; transparent and inclusive establishment of ‘transitional mechanisms’, consistent with international standards; economic, social and cultural rights as an integral part of transition efforts; and the need for transitional mechanisms to pay due regard to past abuses of human rights by business enterprises.
