Canada: Briefing to the UN Committee against Torture: a summary

This is a summary of the Amnesty International brief which set out concerns about ways in which Canadian action or inaction risks complicity in torture or other ill-treatment, through such means as inadequate efforts to protect Indigenous women from violence, deportations and failure to ensure justice and accountability for torture. The brief also lays out some ongoing concerns about the use of conducted energy devices and allegations of excessive force by police that have arisen in connection with various protests.
