The Convention on the Rights of the Child

The Convention on the Rights of the Child is an international human rights treaty which was adopted by consensus by the UN General Assembly on 20 November 1989. It came into force on 2 September 1990. The conventions contains rights of direct relevance to the work of AI. This document sets out briefly the provisions of interest to AI, with an indication of how they differ from other important standards, such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
