Saudi Arabia: Flogging: Mohammed ‘Ali al-Sayyid, Egyptian national

Mohammad ‘Ali al-Sayyid, an Egyptian worker in Saudi Arabia in his 30s, is reported to have been sentenced to 4000 lashes. He has reportedly received 3400 so far, at the rate of 50 lashes every two weeks. Each flogging session is reported to leave him with bruised or bleeding buttocks and unable to sleep or sit for three or four days. Mohammed was convicted on charges of theft, with a Saudi Arabian national. Both received seven years imprisonment, with an additional 4000 lashes for Mohamed. They were not allowed legal representation at trial.
