This letter lists AI’s concerns in the 1996 National Assembly elections in South Korea. They include: amendment of the National Security Law, review of the cases of political prisoners, repeal of the prohibition on “third party intervention” in labour disputes, prevention of abuse by the Agency for National Security Planning (ANSP), eradication of torture and ill-treatment, investigation of all human rights violations and abolition of the death penalty.
