Indonesia (East Timor): Recommendations to the UN Secretary General concerning investigations into crimes agaInst humanity and war crimes

This document contains Amnesty International’s recommendations to the UN Secretary General as the UN prepares to establish an International Commission of Inquiry into possible violations of human rights and international law that may have occurred in Indonesia since January 1999. Areas of recommendation include the composition of the Commission, its mandate, powers, methodology and the cooperation of the multinational force (INTERFET) and UN mission (UNAMET) already established in East Timor.
