Mexico: Daring to raise their voices

This report covers a wide range of difficulties and human rights violations facing human rights defenders in Mexico. Drawing on cases of harassment of human rights defenders from 1996 onwards, it highlights how efforts by defenders to improve Mexico’s human rights situation have been met with obstruction and persecution. The report examines cases that occurred both during the years of the government of President Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de León (1994-2000) and during the administration of President Vicente Fox Quesada (2000-).
