Colombia: Further information on Fear for Safety/Possible ‘disappearance’ -Gilberto Torres Martínez (m) – trade union leader and other members of the Oil Worker’s Union

Amnesty International is seriously concerned for the safety of members of the Oil Workers’ Union (USO), Gilberto Torres Martínez, a trade union leader was reportedly abducted by army-backed paramilitaries on 25 February. The United Self-Defence Groups of Colombia, announced that they had captured him and that he would face a paramilitary trial within the next 7 days. He is accused Gilberto Torres Martínez of “carrying out subversive activities supporting the actions and attacks of guerrilla terrorists”.
