Iran: Persistent violations of human rights

Evidence collected by Amnesty International since the publication of its major report, Iran: Violations of Human Rights shows that serious human rights violations are continuing. New examples of torture, arbitrary arrest, execution and of judicial punishments which constitute torture are described. These have come to the attention of Amnesty International since the preparation of the memoranda to the government in 1986 which formed the basis of the 1987 report. The persistent issue of unfair trials is described, particularly with respect to defendants facing the death penalty.
