The third hearing in the trial of the above-named was reportedly marked by scuffles between police and some 300 people waiting outside the courtroom: according to reports police dispersed them using sticks. Several people were detained. The next day 14 were taken to court, 13 of whom were arrested on charges of having violated Law no. 2911 on Demonstrations and Assembly. In protest against this the defence lawyers boycotted the trial until “normal” conditions were restored and the co-defendant Ayse Zarakolu refused to testify; the hearing was adjourned until 25 July.
