Mozambique: Arbitrary arrest, detention and treatment of detainees in Mozambique: Summary of findings

In February 2012, a joint delegation of Amnesty International and the Mozambique Human Rights League visited prisons in Mozambique. They found scores of detainees who have been held for months and even years after arrest and without having been tried before a court. The report subsequently produced looks at the shortcomings of the criminal justice system which allows this pattern of arrests and detentions to occur. This document provides a summary of the delegation’s findings.
