In a statement to the UN Human Rights Council, Amnesty expressed concern over the dramatic deterioration of the human rights situation in Myanmar over the past year. While the military continues to violate rights with impunity, Myanmar’s civilian-led government has proven itself to be unable and unwilling to hold those responsible to account. It is time for the international community to step in.
