Myanmar: Open letter on the four proposed laws aimed at “protecting race and religion”

In this open letter Amnesty International raises concerns about four proposed laws aimed at “protecting race and religion”. These laws are discriminatory on religious and gender grounds and could result in other human rights violations, including the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, the right to privacy, children’s rights and the right to freedom of expression. Amnesty International urges the President of Myanmar not to sign into law these proposed laws, or any other legislation which would entrench discrimination or which could result in other human rights violations.
