Paraguay: Rights on hold: Amnesty International submission for the UN Universal Periodic Review, 38th Session of the UPR Working Group, May 2021

This submission was prepared for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Paraguay in May 2021. In this document, Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of recommendations made to Paraguay in its previous UPR. However, not all recommendations have been sufficiently implemented. Amnesty International calls attention to the violations of the rights of Indigenous Peoples; the insufficient protection of girls, boys and adolescents, especially in relation to sexual abuse and comprehensive sexuality education; discrimination, particularly with respect to gender and sexual diversity policies; and the protection of human rights defenders.
