Amnesty International believes that this may not have been a fair trial.
Specifically, Amnesty International remains concerned that confessions
possibly made under torture were used in the prosecution of these seven people.
Amnesty International is calling on authorities in Uzbekistan to order a
judicial review of this case. Amnesty International is continuing to call
for a full and impartial investigation into allegations that defendants in
this case were tortured and ill-treated, and for anyone found responsible for
having committed torture or ill-treatment to be brought to justice. Amnesty
International also remains concerned about the health of Erkin Ashurov, who
was reported to be in need of medical attention for diabetes, rheumatism and
radiculitis.
