There has been no further information as to the whereabouts of Hüseyin Toraman
who was reportedly detained outside his home in the district of Kocamustafapa_a,
Istanbul, by plain clothes police officers from the Political Branch of Istanbul
Police on 27 October 1991. The relevant police authorities continue to deny
any knowledge of his fate.
His arrest had been confirmed by 3 witnesses and by uniformed officers from
the local police station at Kocamustafapa_a.
On Wednesday 18 December the Human Rights Commission of the Turkish parliament
established a team of three commission members (who are also members of
parliament) to investigate Hüseyin Toraman's disappearance. The team will
prepare a report for subsequent evaluation by the Commission.
