Ali Candan was detained at about midnight on 8 August 1994 during a raid by security forces on his aunt’s house in Izmir. His whereabouts in custody are not known. AI fears that he is being tortured in incommunicado detention. He was previously detained in 1991 for his alleged involvement in the PKK.
