This paper provides information on the arrest and detention without charge or trial of seven supporters of the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS). Their arrests occur in the context of increasing tension between the federal authorities and the PBS-dominated government of the state of Sabah, formerly North Borneo. The detainees have been accused of involvement in a plot to take Sabah out the Federation of Malaysia. The names of the detainees are: Vincent Chung, Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, Ariffin Haji Hamid, Benedict Topin, Albinus Yudah, Abdul Rahman Ahmad and Wencelous Damit Undikai. Relevant provisions of the Internal Security Act of 1960, under which the above-named are detained, are discussed and the general political situation is briefly described.
