South Korea: Two teachers imprisoned

This document describes Amnesty International’s (AI) concerns about repression of members of a teachers’ union in South Korea. Lee Yong-ju, Chairman of the South Kyongsang provincial branch of Chonkyojo (Korean Teachers and Educational Workers Union) and Ahn Jong-bok, Vice-Chairman of the same branch have both been sentenced to one year’s imprisonment for their non-violent trade union activities. AI is also concerned about reports that they have been ill-treated in detention.
