Argentina: Further information on fear for safety / death threats

Amnesty International has received no further reports of threats or intimidation of human rights defenders Sonia Torres de Parodi, Elvio Zanotti and his family, and Maria Teresa Sanchez. Earlier this year all three, who work for the human rights organisation Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, received threatening letters and were followed and spied on.

Amnesty International has received no further reports of threats or intimidation
of the three human rights defenders named above. Earlier this year all three,
who work for the human rights organisation Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, Grandmothers
of the Plaza de Mayo, received threatening letters and were followed and spied
on.
The President of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo has reportedly discussed
the death threats with the Under-Secretary of the Human Rights Secretariat
of the Ministry of Interior, and she has received assurances that they will
be investigated.
Amnesty International will continue to monitor closely the situation of human
rights defenders in Argentina.
