Syria: Further information on health concern / prisoner of conscience: Faraj Ahmad Birqdar

Amnesty International has received a response from the Syrian Embassy in Hungary, claiming that Faraj Ahmad Birqdar was arrested on charges of belonging to a terrorist group and that he has not been tortured. While welcoming the response, Amnesty International remains concerned for his health and is calling for his immediate and unconditional release having received well-founded reports that he was tortured during pre-trial incommunicado detention and that he is a prisoner of conscience.
