This document highlights some of the flagrant human rights violations, which have continued unabated in Lebanon, particularly in south Lebanon which has remained under the occupation of Israel and its proxy militia the South Lebanon Army. This briefing focuses on allegations of torture and ill-treatment, waves of arbitrary arrests and detention on suspected political opponents, expansion of the death penalty legislation in 1994 and the carrying out of six executions since then, and the ban on demonstrations imposed in 1993, wich has remained in force ever since.
