In this submission, Amnesty International provides information as stipulated in the General Guidelines for the Preparation of Information under the Universal Periodic Review. Amnesty International expresses concern about proposed new laws, in particular a new anti-terrorism law. The organization also expresses concerns about the use of emergency legislation to detain people without charge, the use of torture, unfair trials of civilians, restrictions on the rights to freedom of expression, association and assembly, the rise in death sentences, detention of people for their alleged sexual orientation, and the treatment of refugees.
