NGO submission on EU accession to ECHR

In this submission non-governmental organisations (NGOs) recommend that the accession of the European Union’s (EU) to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) be undertaken with the widest degree of the transparency guaranteed under the Treaty on European Union. The NGOs also express concerns in the context of EU accession in connection with the application of provisions of EU law, such as the Schengen regime and the Dublin Regulation, by states which are not members of the EU.
