Greece: Preliminary comments on the asylum-determination procedure reforms

On 22 November 2010, the Presidential Decree 114/2010, "Establishment of a unified refugee and subsidiary protection determination procedure for aliens and stateless persons", entered into force. In this document Amnesty International makes preliminary comments on the decree which reflect the organization's concerns. These concerns include refoulement; independence of determining authorities; detention of asylum-seekers; access to the asylum-determination procedure; notification of rights; access to free legal assistance; and unaccompanied minors.
