The nations of ASEAN (Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam) are a notable exception to the trend followed by an increasing number of countries from widely different regions and cultural traditions moving to abolish the death penalty. This document describes how people have been sentenced to death after unfair trials and how some of those executed may have been innocent of the crimes for which they were convicted. This document includes studies of each of the ASEAN countries and outlines Amnesty International's recommendations to the ASEAN governments.
