Sudan: Time is running out: Protect the People of Darfur

More than 200,000 people have died in the four-year conflict in Darfur, Sudan, and more than 2.5 million have been displaced from their homes. Murder, rape, pillage and mass forced displacement continue to be used as weapons of war by Janjawid militias along with Sudanese armed forces. Civilians in eastern Chad are now also being attacked by Sudanese Janjawid militias and their local Chadian allies, who plunder and kill with impunity. This document includes recommendations to the UN, African Union and the Sudanese government to protect civilians against violations and improve the security for humanitarian agencies.
