Guinea: Maintaining order with contempt for the right to life

Amnesty International is launching an appeal to the Guinean authorities to accord the utmost importance to respect for the law and the protection of human life. The organisation is urging the government of Guinea to take steps to ensure that the security forces respect and protect the right to life and apply international standards governing the conduct of law enforcement officials and the use of force and firearms. The organisation is calling on the government to guarantee freedom of expression and the right of assembly and to put a stop to the culture of impunity.
