10 October 2012 marks the tenth anniversary of the creation of the World Day Against the Death Penalty. As the United Nations General Assembly prepares to consider and vote upon the fourth resolution on a moratorium on the use of the death penalty this year’s World Day is an important opportunity to reflect on achievements in the fight against the death penalty over the past decade as well as some of the challenges ahead.
