Mohsen Bawi (m), aged 35, his brother ] community

Sohrab and Mohsen Bawi were released on 19 July. They have asked for their sincere thanks to be passed on to all who campaigned on their behalf. They are now in a UNHCR-administered camp on Iraq's border with Jordan.

The brothers, who are advocates for the rights of Iran's Arab minority, had fled to Iraq in February, and been arrested on the border in Basra. They were charged with "illegal entry into Iraq" and were in danger of being forcibly returned to Iran, where they had already been sentenced to long prison terms. If they had been returned to Iran, they would have been at risk of being tortured and sentenced to death.

No further action is requested from the UA network. Many thanks to all who sent appeals.
