CROATIA Drago Hedl (m), journalist

On 4 December, police investigations identified a man who is believed to be responsible for the latest death threats against Croatian journalist Drago Hedl. The case was sent to the County Prosecutor in Osijek for further investigation.
Drago Hedl is no longer receiving police protection, and is not believed to be in imminent danger.
Drago Hedl, a columnist for the Croatian daily newspaper Jutarnji List, received a series of death threats, most recently on 27 November. The threats are believed to be connected to his investigative reports linking a high-level Croatian politician to the killing of Croatian Serbs in the town of Osijek during the 1991-1995 war.
Many thanks to all who sent appeals. No more action from the UA network is requested at present.
