يشكِّل إعدام عالم صيني يوم الجمعة آخر حلقة في سلسلة من الإعدامات التي تتناقض مع الاتجاه العالمي نحو وقف تنفيذ عقوبة الإعدام.
لقد بلغ عدد الدول الداعمة لحملة وضع حد لعقوبة الإعدام رقماً قياسياً.
اعتمدت ما يربو على 100 دولة قراراً ثانياً للأمم المتحدة يدعو إلى وقف استخدام عقوبة الإعدام.
