Le 28 mai, Amnesty International fête ses 50 ans d’action indépendante pour mettre fin aux graves atteintes aux droits humains dans le monde. Cinquante années qui ont vu le mouvement débuter à Londres dans un petit bureau où travaillaient quelques bénévoles et devenir une véritable organisation internationale avec plus de 3 millions de sympathisants, membres et militants.

La vision d’Amnesty International est celle d’un monde où tout être humain peut se prévaloir de tous les droits énoncés dans la Déclaration universelle des droits de l’homme et dans d’autres textes internationaux.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL A 50 ANS

Il y a 50 ans, un homme, révolté par les injustices dont il était témoin, a lancé un appel à ses contemporains pour qu'ils se joignent à lui pour mener une action commune. Il a constaté qu’en s’unissant et se servant de leurs droits et de leur liberté d’agir pour un monde juste, les hommes pouvaient obtenir des résultats extraordinaires.
