Uzbekistan: Impunity must not prevail

This report summarizes Amnesty International’s continuing concerns in relation to the aftermath of the tragic events in the eastern city of Andizhan in May 2005 when security forces fired indiscriminately into crowds of mostly unarmed civilian protesters. A year on Amnesty International believes that the need for an impartial, international investigation into the circumstances surrounding these events remains as pertinent and pressing as ever in order to determine the truth of these disputed events and to ensure reparation for all the victims of the human rights abuses perpetrated on those days.
