Indonesia: Briefing to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women

Amnesty International is concerned that women and girls in Indonesia continue to face barriers in fully exercising their human rights in law, policy and practice. In this briefing Amnesty International highlights five areas of concern. They include gender stereotyping and traditional, religious and cultural practices which are harmful to women; discriminatory access to sexual and reproductive health rights; abuses towards female domestic workers; gender-based violence and the criminal justice system; and access to justice, truth and reparation for past violations in areas of armed conflicts.
