A US official has now acknowledged that Mohamed al-Qahtani tortured in Guantánamo. A criminal investigation into the torture of Mohammed al-Qahtani is long overdue. The USA should release Mohamed al-Qahtani unless it promptly recharges him and brings him to trial in accordance with international fair trial standards. Amnesty International is calling on the new administration and Congress to establish an independent commission of inquiry into human rights violations in the “war on terror”.
