Sierra Leone: The United Nations special conference on Sierra Leone: the protection of human rights must be a priority for the international community

This document has been published specifically to address the United Nations special conference on Sierra Leone on 30 July 1998. Amnesty International appeals to the international community to stop the continuing atrocities and impunity, to reinforce the monitoring and reporting of human rights abuses and to promote the building of post-conflict institutions for an effective protection of human rights. The report also draws the attention to the severe needs of children and women who are often the victims of the violence and brutality in the country.
